A grieving swan that had spent her entire life there refused to move. A high-speed rail route was being blocked by the bereaved bird, which led to the cancellation of at least 23 trains in Germany. Eventually, firefighters were able to save the swan and transport her to safety.
According to German authorities, the two swan got lost near a train tunnel in Fuldatal, on the route from Kassel to Göttingen.
Confused, one of the swans had flown too close to a power line and it had been electrocuted. The unfortunate event left the dead’s bird mate broken-hearted.
The devoted swan remained still and took up residence close to the train tracks to grieve her companion. Swans are one of the few animals that typically couple together for life.
These magnificent birds grieve their companions when they are separated from them, and they stay there for a very long time.
