We all know Maine Coons can grow into some little giants, but this one it must have been taken full advantage of that reputation since people mistake him for a dog – due to his enormous size – and he’s not even fully grown yet. Everyone meet Kefir, the world’s biggest cat!
Though he’s less than 2-year-old yet, Kefir already weighs around 28lbs. That’s a lot if you think the average Maine Coon male could reach up to 18lbs and then on top think about he’ll continue to grow until he’s 3-4 year old. I just can’t even imagine how large he will be! But that doesn’t seem to bother his human, who looks more than happy to cuddle with the biggest furball in the world. Anyway, even her was taken by surprise by how large Kefir is growing!
Despite being so large, Kefir is a gentle giant. He lives with his mom – Yuliya Minina – in the small city of Stary Oskol, Russia. Very excited that her furry friend became an Internet sensation due to his oversize, Yuliya admits she never expected to this outcome when she first met Kefir, roughly two years ago.
“He might have a formidable appearance, but he is a very affectionate and modest child,” Kefir’s owner explained. “He’s a super-smart cat. It weirdly can feel the general mood in the house. He doesn’t meow, doesn’t yell, and doesn’t harm the furniture. A truly perfect cat.”
Now, the young lady says that people often mistake Kefir for a dog. “It is so funny how others react when they see the cat because it is huge,” she told Bored Panda. “Many people think that it’s a dog at first.”
Living with such an enormous kitten is truly adorable for Yuliya, yet sharing her bad with him became a little inconvenient over the last months!
“At night he likes to climb on me and sleep,” she said. “When he was a kitten, it didn’t cause me any inconvenience. But now he has become big and heavy, and, of course, it is difficult to sleep like that.”
Yuliya constantly shares photos and footages with her and her kitten online, where Kefir is a rising star.
