Canadian boater Junior Cook overheard sounds emanating from a deserted island while passing close to Cross Keys, Manitoba.
Concerned, he came back the following day to take a further look. The sight of seven whimpering and gamboling puppies on the island sent him into a state of utter disbelief. His first contact was to Norway House Animal Rescue, a group specifically committed to helping cats and dogs.
Thankfully, they replied immediately and drove over to bring the dogs to their shelter. Food and water were supplied to the dogs in the first several days after they weren’t transferred straight due to the requirement for preparations.
The puppies were successfully relocated to Winnipeg, where they will remain until they are adopted. But their unique personalities will shine through, making it easier to find them permanent homes.
All of the Howells, Ginger, Lovey, The Professor, Mary Anne, Gilligan, and Skipper are looking for forever homes. Our sincere wish is that they will soon find loving homes of their own.
