Dogs, with their never-ending optimism and a never-ending supply of delight, do a lot to help us get through bad times in our lives. And every now and then, we get the opportunity to return the favor by doing something for them.
As a result, prepare to meet Nora the dog, and Archie, an 11-month-old infant. These two have been closest friends since the day they met, and their tale will bring a smile to your face and remind you just how profound a human-dog bond can be.
But let’s start with the beginning. You see, Nora didn’t exactly have an easy start in life. In fact it was quite the opposite of that. Nora comes from an abusive home and was left with massive emotional scars as a result of it.
Due to extensive abuse, Nora was afraid of almost anything and anyone. Every time someone tried to get near her, the dog would lash out because she was afraid.
“You’re likely to find a pile of kids, cats, and/or dogs sleeping about the home someplace at any time of day,” Archie’s mother, Elizabeth Spence, told
That is until she met Archie, the infant. Nora accepted the infant the moment they met, and the two became nearly inseparable from then on. Nora was first drawn to the infant because of his easygoing demeanor, and their bond got deeper over time.
“Archie is an extremely laid-back, happy, good-natured baby and all the animals seem to really respond to that, particularly Nora,” Spence said. “She came from an abusive background and is afraid of almost everything. Not Archie, though. She absolutely adores him!”
Most likely, the baby offers her a sense of security and safety that Nora needed to overcome her hard challenging past. What a lovely duo!
