When this 2-pound puppy with an issue with his feet was sent to the vet to be put down because of the ailment, some kind-hearted people felt they had to attempt to save him. They took him home and nursed him back to health.
This cute two-pound Great Dane baby had to be terminated by its breeder because all four of his paws were curled downward “like a ballerina’s toes.” The breeder took the youngster to the veterinarian to have the procedure done, writes dogdispatch.com
But instead of putting the puppy to sleep, the veterinarian quickly phoned a rescue organization. The rescue organization raced in and began to foster the tiny puppy immediately, and they named it Forrest after Forrest Gump.
It was a race against time to attempt to save the puppy because with each additional pound of weight the dog gained, it would become increasingly difficult and unpleasant for the puppy to walk. However, Forrest’s foster mother was prepared to do whatever in her power to assist the puppy with walking in a normal manner.
She wasted no time in beginning her efforts to assist the puppy, starting right away by contacting as many orthopedic specialists as she could. But every time she asked, she received the same response, which was that they had no idea what was wrong with the puppy or how to treat its condition in any way.
It appeared that the issue the puppy was having was quite peculiar, and no one had any ideas about how to help. But if there was one thing that everyone agreed upon, it was that this puppy required assistance prior to becoming any larger. This was due to the fact that the larger Forrest got, the more painful his paws became.
Forrest was developing very quickly, and eventually, the foster caretaker found out about a dog named Lumen who had been born with the same disability, was the same age, and had been brought to the same veterinarian to be euthanized but was instead given to a rescue organization. Forrest’s foster caretaker was able to save Lumen’s life.
Although it was clear that the two puppies were related, there was a significant dissimilarity between them. Lumen had surgery to correct the problems with her paws. Forrest and his foster were driven to their veterinarian at Oregon State by Lumen’s owners, who informed them that Forrest would need immediate surgery on all four of his paws.
After undergoing surgery, he faced a challenging journey toward recovery. Lumen, Forrest’s sister, and he were able to catch up with each other while they were on it. The reunion was quite heartwarming, and it was made even more so by the fact that it was thanks to her that Forrest was able to get the assistance he required.
Forrest’s departure day had finally arrived, and he was able to travel back to his home. Soon after that, he was introduced to a foster caretaker who, upon first gazing upon him, adored him and his unique paws. Even when the enormous puppy’s feet hurt, his foster family was eager to carry him around everywhere they went.
