During their patrol of an Ohio street, officers from the Kirtland Police Department came across a bewildered dog. The officers instantly had the impression that the canine was separated from his owners and was hunting for them. They returned the glum youngster to the department and then checked social media to see if anybody was missing a large dog.
Even though many people in the neighborhood shared the online plea to identify the dog’s owners, it was clear very quickly that the puppy had been abandoned even though the appeal was spread. Due to the fact that the dog did not have any identification on him, the police started to refer to him as a “John Doe” dog, which eventually shortened to JD. They saw that JD was becoming more depressed with each passing day, and as a result, they started exploring various options in an effort to locate him a loving forever home.
During the time that the police officers were occupied with investigating possible homes for JD, an event had place that utterly blindsided them: they fell deeply in love with the endearing dog. JD’s reassuring presence and loving demeanor became a mainstay at the station, and it soon became clear that the starry-eyed furball had begun connecting with the officers as well!
In the end, after obtaining the necessary approval from the relevant local authorities, the Kirtland Police Department made the formal decision to adopt JD as their honorary companion dog. JD had a gut feeling that he had finally found his happily ever after, and he transitioned into his new position with ease. JD did it everything, from participating in awareness campaign runs to performing patrol tasks, and the doting police officers treasure every single second of his fresh new existence with them.
Recently, the Kirtland Police Department sent an update in which they said that JD had regrettably passed away and gone on to the rainbow bridge. JD has finally found rest in peace after dedicating his life to serving the police department and providing an incalculable amount of pleasure to both his fellow officers and the community. Rest well, lovely guy!
