When a conductor in Chile spotted a sad puppy tethered to the rails, he decided to halt the train he was operating. The brave man then descends and releases the canine. Even better, he took a picture of it. The police opened an inquiry in the hopes of identifying the perpetrators of such abuse.
While operating the railway in Chile’s Valparaso Region, Andres Fabricio Argandoa Tapia spotted some movement on the trucks. He could hardly see what was there because it was getting dark, but as he drew nearer he promptly applied the brakes. A helpless dog that was tethered to the rails was attempting valiantly to break free.
The locomotive was quickly rescued by the train driver, who descended from the locomotive. The terrified puppy can be heard barking helplessly in an effort to break free of the chain on the conductor’s video recording. Thankfully, the considerate motorist was able to liberate the dog, who immediately took off.
“How can there be people so bad? Who leave little dogs tied up on the tracks,” the train driver says in the heartbreaking footage. “You cannot do that. I hope someday the human race changes.”
The authorities are now trying to find out who did such a terrible thing.
“We condemn and reject this incident against a defenceless animal, and we are thankful for the behaviour of the driver who saved its life,” said the mayor of the city, Edgardo Gonzalez.
